Regular expressions are written in a formal language that can be interpreted by a regular expression processor, a program that either serves as a parser generator or examines text and identifies parts that match the provided specification.

I just finished reading the article which explains how to use regular expression. I am not a technical person is unable to completely understand how things are actually working but I got a overview of it. Thanks.
